Becca Lee
Becca Lee is a talented emerging actor who recently made her Broadway debut in The Prom. She originated the role of Mandy when the show premiered in Atlanta in 2016 and stayed with the part (which was renamed Kaylee) when the show opened on the Great White Way in 2018. The Prom was a critical success, playing over 300 performances and winning the 2019 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical.
It’s a far cry from the career Lee appeared to be embarking on when she began studying for a degree in Psychology at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Tellingly, however, she was part of the university’s dance team and was also part of the Knicks City Dancers, performing at basketball games at Madison Square Gardens and other NBA events in New York. In 2009, she was part of Sass x7, a dance group that competed in the long-running MTV series America’s Best Dance Crew. In 2011, she got her first notable theatrical role, playing Zaneeta Shinn in a production of The Music Man at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine. After this, she was able to join the actor’s union Equity and also joined the CESD Talent Agency, finding work as a professional dancer.
Lee returned to the NBA in 2015, becoming part of their Fan Patrol, providing entertainment at games and encouraging fan participation. Later that year, she joined multi-million-selling American rock group the Trans-Siberian Orchestra for their 2015 Winter Tour, singing and dancing to sell-out stadium audiences across the United States. With Broadway now under her belt, Lee’s dedication to her talent is truly paying off.
